Game localization
and so much more!
What I do
Game localization — you would have guessed it by now. I can help you prepare your files and workflow before the actual translation work, organize the process between different linguists as a project manager, or translate your game myself from English into French.
My favourite genres as a long-time gamer are RPGs and narration-heavy games, but I can work on any kind of game! Maybe not horror, though. That still leaves quite a long list — almost as long as the wait for TES VI...
Technical translation and software localization — not everything in life is as fun as grabbing a controller, but technical documentation, software programs, or even patent claims need to be translated too. I hone a large skill set, so feel free to reach out and tell me about your projects; I will tell you if I can hanlde it, and if I cannot, I will always tell you so and recommend specialists. Yes, I offer MTPE services, but only for some kind of documents and fields; never for games!
Other geeky linguistic tasks (TM maintenance, file conversion and preparation, help with CAT tools, you name it) or more literary work (bilingual or monolingual text proofreading, website audit, linguistic evaluation tasks...), I can always find a way to be helpful and make the best out of your work environment.
How I do it
Quality over quantity
Quality is the priority. Localicows will probably not be the cheapest option you'll meet, maybe not the quickest either. But at the end of the day, the result will be excellent and you will have your say in it.
Adaptability
Not sure what you should translate or not in the first place? Some content got added along the way? You cannot open the very file you want translated? No problem. I will help you through it. No matter the unexpected; you can rely on me to find a way and overcome your localization challenges.
Transparency
I believe in honesty and sharing knowledge. This means that I will ask questions throughout any project you entrust me with, I will tell you if there is an issue, and I will tell you if what you ask is out of my scope. This also fuels my love of FOSS software and assets, and am grateful to all creators who chose to give their work to the community at large.
